Reflections of You

How do you see yourself when you look in the mirror? To some, that is a loaded question because we do so many things in our lives that it’s difficult to pick just one. I have looked in the mirror myself and have thought about the person I was, the person I have grown to be and what I want to see change in my future. I wanted to get people to reflect and see what is their true identity. Sigmund Freud once said, “being entirely honest with oneself is a good practice.” Finding that part of you that you truly identify with and look at them face to face in the mirror was what I was set out to do.
I reached out to my local community to see what people see when they look in the mirror. It was truly amazing to see the huge number of responses that I got from them. I interviewed each participant I have captured with a series of questions that I came up with. I had them come up with the location of a mirror that they see often to make each image personable. Then we collaborated on the part of them that will be looking at the mirror and the part of them that will be in the mirror.
What is truly remarkable is the things you learn about each of the participants and how you can relate to them. You can see what people are truly about, where they are coming from, their struggles, how they emotionally feel, and what they want to see in their future. By being able to realize this, people can get a better understanding of themselves, liberate themselves and possibly make changes to better themselves for their future. So, the next time you look in the mirror, go ahead and asking yourself, what is your true identity?
